Brasov ice rinks: Olimpic, Agrement and Olimpia

Brasov ice rink  – Olimpic is the newest and modern ice rink currently available in Romania (it was inaugurated in January 2010).
BrasovCity Hall is the beneficiary of the ice rink; the whole complex is managed by the Sports and Youth Directorate of Brasov.
Brasov Olimpic ice rink is located behind the Central Railway Station of Brasov in the TractorulPark and it has auto access with free public parking on Turnului Street.

Capacity: 1600 seats and another 400 standing places, the total capacity is over 2,000 seats;
Climate: the stands are 16 ° C, at 1-2 m from the ice is 11 ° C. and the ice has varying temperatures depending on the sport that is practiced: -6 ° C for figure skating, short track -10 ° C and -15 ° C for hockey;
Locker rooms: 6 for hockey and skating, one for the public;
Other rooms: protocol Hall, conference hall, doctor, antidoping station, fan shop, a buffet and bars.

“Olimpia” base belongs to Sports Club “Skating Society”. The Skating Society was founded in March 14, 1880, by the Saxons from Brasov, on the initiative of the lawyer Karl Adam. On March 29, 1894, the General Assembly decided to build a headquarters for the Society, after the plans of architect Paul Branga. On November 13, 1894 the cornerstone was laid, and in the autumn of next year the building was finished. The area, shady and rich in springs that united waters into a “bucket” that freeze in winter, has always been conducive to a natural ice rink. The first rink furnished was inaugurated on January 22, 1895. In those years, the Saxons were big fans of this sport and those who came to enjoy the ice had part of a special atmosphere maintained by a band playing on the balcony building “Olimpia”.

Brasov ice rink – Agrement  was reopened in 2011 after an investment of Brasov County Council.
