This is the second time to visit this magnificent church, and it was even better than memory served. I spent more time looking at the antique Turkish carpets on display, which were donated by merchants returning from the Levant. The presence of German burghers was made palpable by the individual families’ pews, where their painted family insignia are still visible. Please allow at least an hour – two is better; there are a couple of side-chapel things that are museums in and of themselves, and totally worth browsing.
