TheĀ TransfÄgÄrÄČanĀ (trans (over, across) +Ā FÄgÄraČ) orĀ DN7CĀ is the second-highest paved road inĀ Romania.
Also known asCeauČescu’s Folly,Ā it was built as a strategic military route, the 90Ā km of twists and turns run north to south across the tallest sections of the SouthernĀ Carpathians, between the highest peak in the country,Ā Moldoveanu, and the second highest,Ā Negoiu.
The road connects the historic regions ofĀ TransylvaniaĀ andĀ Wallachia, and the cities ofĀ SibiuĀ andĀ PiteČti.
